Holenarasipura: The police have booked a JD(S) worker and his relative on charges of attempting to extort money from party MLC Suraj Revanna by threatening to file a false sexual assault case, according to police reports on Friday.

Suraj’s close associate has registered FIR against Chethan K.S. and his brother-in-law. Chethan also filed a police complaint on the same day, alleging that Suraj Revanna had sexually assaulted him.

 

Suraj is the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda and Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna and the elder sibling of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently in police custody over accusations of sexually assaulting multiple women.

 

According to Shivakumar’s complaint, Chethan had become a friend and was working for the "Suraj Revanna Brigade." Recently, Chethan approached Shivakumar for financial assistance to cover family expenses. When Shivakumar denied the request, Chethan allegedly threatened to accuse Suraj Revanna of sexual assault unless he was paid.

Shivakumar claimed that Chethan initially demanded Rs 5 crore, which was later reduced to Rs 2 crore. Following the complaint, police have registered a case against Chethan and his brother-in-law under IPC sections 384, 506, and 34.
