A public bus collided with a building in downtown Seattle on Saturday evening, resulting in 11 injuries, including one critical, officials reported.
The Sound Transit bus crashed at the corner of 5th Avenue and Terrace Street shortly before 7 p.m., according to a statement from the Seattle Fire Department.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene for an "extrication response" and assisted all passengers in exiting the vehicle. Fortunately, each passenger was able to leave the bus independently, the department noted.
Eleven adult passengers were subsequently taken to nearby hospitals. Except for one individual, all were in stable condition, officials confirmed. "Crews treated a 54-year-old male who was critically injured," the department stated. "He was transported by paramedics to Harborview Medical Center."
