Eight lives were tragically lost when a tempo traveler plunged into a deep gorge along the Badrinath Highway, approximately five kilometers from Rudraprayag district in Uttarakhand this Saturday.


The vehicle, carrying a total of 23 passengers, was on its way from Noida to Chopta when the accident occurred.

Upon receiving the distressing news, local authorities swiftly mobilized the police, district disaster management teams, NDRF, and other rescue units to the scene.

Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, "We received distressing news of the tempo traveler accident in Rudraprayag. Local administration and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively involved in rescue operations."

The injured have been promptly transported to the nearest medical facility for urgent treatment. The District Magistrate has been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.

Dhami added, "My prayers go out to the departed souls and strength to their families in this moment of profound grief. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured under the blessings of Baba Kedar."

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the critical need for safety measures and vigilance on the roads, particularly in challenging terrains.
