A widespread Microsoft outage is currently causing significant disruptions across various sectors, including aviation, retail, and financial services. The impact is being felt globally, with India being one of the affected countries.

Aviation Disruptions in India

In India, major airlines such as Vistara, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air are experiencing technical issues that have disrupted booking, check-in, and flight update services. The airlines have resorted to manual check-in processes to manage the situation.

SpiceJet announced via social media, "We are currently experiencing technical challenges with our service provider, affecting online services including booking, check-in, and manage booking functionalities. As a result, we have activated manual check-in and boarding processes across airports."

Akasa Air similarly stated, "Due to infrastructure issues with our service provider, some of our online services, including booking, check-in, and manage booking services will be temporarily unavailable. We are following manual check-in and boarding processes at the airports and request passengers with immediate travel plans to reach the airport early."

IndiGo also reported issues, saying, "Our systems are currently impacted by a Microsoft outage, which is also affecting other companies. During this time, booking, check-in, access to your boarding pass, and some flights may be impacted. We appreciate your patience."

Vistara acknowledged the technical challenges, stating, "We're experiencing technical challenges across various aspects of our operations due to a global outage at our service provider's end. We are working with them to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."

Airport Responses

Delhi Airport confirmed that some services were affected by the outage. "Due to the global IT issue, some services at the Delhi Airport were temporarily impacted. We are closely working with all our stakeholders to minimize the inconvenience to our flyers. Passengers are requested to be in touch with the airline concerned or the help desk on the ground for updated flight information," the airport's statement read.

Bengaluru Airport also reported service disruptions, though the exact number of delayed flights is yet to be determined.

International Impact

The outage's impact extends beyond India. In Australia, ABC News 24 struggled to broadcast news packages, while Woolworths supermarkets faced checkout system failures, and several customers reported issues with card transactions. Police systems were also affected.

Melbourne Airport reported that the check-in processes of several airlines were impacted, and Virgin Australia experienced a complete ground stop at Sydney Airport, halting all incoming and outgoing flights.

In Europe, the London Stock Exchange experienced disruptions. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States grounded flights from major airlines such as Delta, United, and American Airlines due to communication issues. 911 emergency services in several US states were also hit, and Sky News in the UK went off the air.

Technical Issues in Europe

In Amsterdam, technical problems caused check-in delays. Berlin Brandenburg Airport in Germany had to cancel flight operations due to the "technical problem," with no clear timeline for when flights would resume.

Global Software Malfunctions

Millions of Windows users worldwide are encountering the Blue Screen of Death, leading to computers shutting down or restarting unexpectedly. This issue results in the loss of unsaved data and critical time for many users.

As the system crashes, users see a message stating, "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you." These Blue Screen errors, also known as STOP code errors, occur when a critical issue forces Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly.

The ongoing Microsoft outage is causing widespread disruptions across multiple sectors worldwide. As companies and service providers work to resolve the issues, affected sectors continue to implement temporary measures to manage operations and minimize inconvenience to customers.
