Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is under scrutiny following a show-cause notice from Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot regarding alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotments. The notice, potentially leading to his prosecution, was discussed at a breakfast meeting with his ministers at his official residence on August 1, ahead of a Cabinet meeting.

The MUDA allegedly allotted 14 sites illegally to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar and other ministers attended the meeting, where Siddaramaiah briefed them on his talks with central Congress leaders in Delhi. The Cabinet plans to address the Governor's notice.

Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar had previously met Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala, who advised counter-strategies against the Governor’s move. Legal experts are crafting a response. The State has set up a one-man commission under retired Judge P.N. Desai to investigate the matter.
