Bengaluru: Nissan Motor India (NMIPL) has officially re-entered the Completely Built Unit (CBU) market with the launch of the all-new Nissan X-TRAIL, marking a significant milestone for the brand's premium SUV lineup in the country. The 4th-generation X-TRAIL, a 'Made in Japan' model, aims to set a new standard for urban SUVs with its blend of sophisticated design, advanced technology, and premium features.
The latest X-TRAIL boasts a remarkable global presence, having sold over 7.8 million units across more than 150 markets. Designed for a refined driving experience, the new X-TRAIL incorporates Nissan's two-decade legacy in SUV engineering and its commitment to providing top-tier vehicles to discerning customers.
Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President AMIEO Region Business Transformation & President of Nissan India Operations, emphasized the strategic importance of the Indian market for Nissan. "The introduction of the 4th Generation Nissan X-TRAIL marks the relaunch of our CBU business in India. This launch aligns with our new brand strategy and provides Indian customers access to Nissan's premier global SUV offerings."
The X-TRAIL features groundbreaking technology, including the world's first Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine, which adjusts its compression ratio to optimize performance and fuel efficiency. Coupled with Nissan’s 3rd Generation XTRONIC Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the X-TRAIL delivers smooth acceleration and improved fuel economy.
Another highlight is the ALiS (Advanced Lithium-ion battery System) mild hybrid technology, enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. The X-TRAIL’s modern, muscular design includes a refined exterior with signature Nissan elements and an interior that sets a new benchmark for luxury and functionality in its segment.
Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India, described the launch as the beginning of a transformative journey for the brand in India. "Our strategy focuses on expanding CBU operations, strengthening our domestic presence, and growing our export markets. The X-TRAIL represents the start of our product offensive in India, offering a blend of sophistication, versatility, and premium driving experience."
The new X-TRAIL is built on the advanced CMF-C platform, incorporating lightweight materials and safety features like seven airbags, an Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, and advanced driver assistance systems. The SUV is available in three elegant colors: Champagne Silver, Pearl White, and Diamond Black.
