Bengaluru: Suresh Gowda, a BJP MLA, has accused Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his associates of engineering the defeat of DK Suresh, brother of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru Rural constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Gowda alleged that a coalition within the Ahinda group, led by Siddaramaiah, strategically worked to undermine DK Suresh's electoral prospects to bolster the CM's political influence in the state.
"I had previously warned about the concerted efforts of ministers Satish Jarkiholi, Dr G Parameshwar, KN Rajanna, and CM Siddaramaiah to ensure DK Suresh's defeat," Gowda asserted, referencing his concerns before the election.
"The election results have validated my apprehensions, as DK Suresh suffered a significant defeat," Gowda continued, emphasizing the orchestrated nature of the setback.
Gowda claimed that DK Suresh's loss is part of a larger scheme to hinder Deputy CM Shivakumar's political ambitions, particularly his aspirations for the Chief Minister's position.
"The stability of the current government is under threat due to internal power struggles within the Congress," Gowda speculated, suggesting that dissent is brewing within the party, notably in Belagavi district.
"The defeat in Bengaluru Rural has exacerbated internal discord within the Congress administration, pushing it towards potential instability and collapse," Gowda concluded, highlighting the political ramifications of DK Suresh's electoral setback.
