NEW DELHI: Sonia Gandhi has been reinstated as the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) following a recent session where her nomination was proposed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
The proposal received backing from Gaurav Gogoi, K Sudhakaran, and Tariq Anwar, all of whom are prominent members of the CPP. Sonia Gandhi, expressing deep gratitude, described her re-election as a poignant moment and pledged to honor the trust placed in her.
She emphasized the need to safeguard against polarization and protect democratic values enshrined in the Constitution. Additionally, during the Congress Working Committee's meeting earlier that day, a resolution was passed urging Rahul Gandhi to take on the role of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
