Dharwad, Karnataka - June 21, 2024 - Dharwad Dhwani, a local organization, has announced plans to hold a padayatra (foot march) on July 15th to bring attention to the problems caused by the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in the Hubballi-Dharwad city.

The padayatra will begin in Navaloor and conclude at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Dharwad. Ishwar Shivalli, president of Dharwad Dhwani, addressed a press conference on Thursday, criticizing the current BRTS system for causing inconvenience to the public. He claims the system is poorly designed and has caused several issues, but despite appeals to the district administration and local ministers, no improvements have been made.

Dharwad Dhwani hopes the padayatra will raise awareness and pressure the authorities to address the problems with the BRTS system. They are inviting other concerned organizations to participate in the march on July 15th. Those interested can contact Manjunath Neeralkatti (9448267451) or Manjunath Nadatti (9964440262) for more information.

In addition to the padayatra, Dharwad Dhwani is also organizing a tree planting drive on June 23rd. Citing the recent rise in temperatures, the organization has decided to plant neem trees, a species known for its multi-purpose benefits.
