In a significant development, the High Court in Bengaluru issued a directive on Friday to Bhavani Revanna, the wife of former minister and JD(S) leader HD Revanna, regarding her involvement in the KR Nagar kidnapping case. Presiding over the matter, Justice Krishna S Dixit passed an interim order, temporarily suspending the arrest warrant issued by the special court handling cases involving MPs/MLAs. Under this directive, Bhavani Revanna has been instructed to appear before the investigating officer of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by 1 pm, said a news report.
Bhavani Revanna had lodged an appeal with the High Court following the rejection of her anticipatory bail plea by the special court in the KR Nagar case. During the proceedings, her legal representative urged the High Court for interim anticipatory bail, citing the issuance of an arrest warrant by the special court. Senior advocate Ravivarma Kumar, serving as the special public prosecutor for the SIT, informed the court that the warrant was sought after Bhavani failed to comply with prior notices to appear, said the news report.
In response, Justice Dixit issued a conditional interim order, directing the SIT not to detain Bhavani beyond 5 pm on the days she is questioned. Additionally, the court imposed geographical restrictions, prohibiting Bhavani from entering the jurisdictions of KR Nagar taluk in Mysuru district and the entirety of Hassan district. Justice Dixit also emphasized that the temporary bail granted should not be perceived as an accolade, cautioning against any form of celebration, the news report said.
