Mangaluru: On Sunday evening, a violent altercation occurred in Bollar, under the Konaje limits, where two BJP workers were stabbed and one was beaten following the alleged raising of provocative slogans in front of a mosque. The incident took place during a victory procession celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in.


Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal reported that the slogans incited a group of 20-25 youths, who pursued the BJP workers on their bikes. The confrontation happened approximately two kilometers from the mosque, in front of a bar, where the victims were assaulted.


Harish (41), son of Mutappa Poojary, and Nandakumar (24), son of Kotiyappa, sustained stab injuries. Harish is currently undergoing surgery at KS Hegde Hospital, while Nandakumar is reported to be out of danger. Krishna Kumar, also the son of Kotiyappa Poojari, was beaten during the incident. All three victims are residents of Innoli.


Police are actively investigating the incident to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
