Hubballi: 2007 batch IPS officer N. Shashi Kumar has assumed charge as Police Commissioner of Hubballi-Dharwad. He replaced incumbent Renuka K. Sukumar, who has been transferred as Assistant Inspector General of Police, Crime, at the police headquarters in Bengaluru.
Shashi Kumar hails from Chitradurga and holds a B.Sc. (Agriculture) degree. Previously, he served as Police Commissioner of Mangaluru. Prior to that, he was Superintendent of Police in Chikkamagaluru and Kalaburagi. He also served as Superintendent of Police, Wireless, in Bengaluru before assuming charge as Mangaluru City Police Commissioner.
He was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police and posted as Police Commissioner of Mangaluru City. Shashi Kumar was serving as Commissioner, Youth Empowerment and Sports department before his transfer here.
Renuka Sukumar, the outgoing Commissioner, is a 2011 batch IPS officer.
Kushal Chouksey, the in-charge Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), was also transferred. Mahaning Nandagavi, a 2018 batch IPS officer, has replaced him.
