Hubballi: The BJP city district unit will stage a massive protest in Dharwad in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office tomorrow (Monday), condemning the sharp hike in fuel prices by the state government, said Arvind Bellad, Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Bellad criticized the state government for the sudden hike in fuel prices. He alleged that to fulfill the promises of the five guarantees, the state government is directly burdening the common man by increasing the fuel price, which will have a cascading effect on daily life. He urged the government to immediately roll back the hike.
“It is ridiculous that the party, which recently fought the election making inflation and rising fuel prices a primary issue, has resorted to such a decision,” Bellad said. He accused the Siddaramaiah government of being indifferent to the plight of common people and claimed that no development work is taking place in the state. According to Bellad, the state government’s coffers have become empty while trying to fulfill election promises.
Bellad advised Siddaramaiah to control the corruption in his government to fund the guarantees. He also alleged that law and order have collapsed in the state due to appeasement politics. Highlighting recent incidents, he mentioned attacks on Hindu workers in Dharwad who tried to stop the illegal transportation of cattle.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Naik, Dattamurthy Kulkarni, and others were present.
