Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has confirmed his attendance at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan today, following consultations with party members and allies.
BJP's Pralhad Joshi extended the invitation to Kharge, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, Congress Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari stated he and INDIA bloc allies had not received invites, criticizing Modi for prioritizing foreign dignitaries.
Mamata Banerjee declared her absence, citing lack of invitation and ideological differences. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh noted only international leaders received invites, expressing willingness to attend if INDIA bloc receives invitations.
Security measures are heightened for Modi's third-term swearing-in amid 240 BJP and 292 NDA seat victories in the recent elections.
