Former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday for questioning in connection with a POCSO case filed against him.
The Karnataka High Court had, on Friday, issued an order preventing the CID from arresting the seasoned BJP leader in relation to the case dated March 14.
According to the police, Yediyurappa is charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This follows a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who alleged that Yediyurappa molested her daughter during a meeting on February 2 of this year at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru.
Yediyurappa has strongly denied the allegations, asserting that "people will hold accountable those who are plotting against him."
