The individual has been identified as a resident of Dombivli, and it is suspected that financial troubles may have led to his drastic decision.
In response, the Navi Mumbai Police have launched a search operation, enlisting rescue teams from the Atal Setu, coastal police, and local fishermen to locate the man's body. The Nhava-Sheva Police are also conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
This was the man's second suicide attempt. He previously tried to take his own life by ingesting floor cleaner while working in Kuwait in 2023, an official told PTI news agency.
This incident is the second suicide from the Atal Setu this year. On March 20, a female doctor also ended her life by jumping from the same bridge.
