HUBBALLI: In a ceremony steeped in spiritual significance, a new postal stamp honoring Sri Siddharoodha Mahaswamiji was unveiled today at the Sri Siddharoodha Math in Hubballi. The event, jointly organized by the Postal Department of the Ministry of Communications and the Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji Math Trust Committee, saw a gathering of political leaders, spiritual figures, and local dignitaries.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, who inaugurated the ceremony by lighting a traditional lamp, emphasized the importance of the occasion. "This postal stamp will serve as a means to remember and reflect upon the life and teachings of Sri Siddharoodha," Joshi stated. He further noted the widespread influence of Siddharoodha, saying, "His devotees are spread across the country, and Hubballi's Siddharoodha Math has grown into a revered holy place."
The event was graced by the presence of several spiritual leaders, including Dr. Shivananda Bharati Mahaswamiji, Sahajananda Mahaswamiji, and Sri Shivakumar Mahaswamiji, among others.
Notable political figures in attendance included MP Basavaraj Bommai, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, and Minister H.K. Patil. Local representatives such as MLAs Prasad Abbayya and Arvind Bellad, along with Mayors Ramanna Badiger and Durgamma Bijawad, also participated in the ceremony.
S. Rajendrakumar, Chief Postmaster General of Karnataka Circle, represented the postal department at this significant philatelic release.
The release of this commemorative stamp not only honors the legacy of Sri Siddharoodha Mahaswamiji but also highlights Hubballi's importance as a spiritual center. As Minister Joshi pointed out, "Any town gets its name from its saints," underlining the deep connection between Sri Siddharoodha and the city of Hubballi.
