Loud bursts and flash floods have caused severe destruction across Himachal Pradesh, particularly affecting Shimla, Mandi, and Kullu districts during the night of July 31 and August 1.

One death has been confirmed, and at least 45 individuals are reported missing.

In Shimla's Rampur area, a cloudburst early Thursday morning caused widespread damage, impacting numerous homes, schools, and hospitals. Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap noted that 19 people are missing, with rescue efforts ongoing.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Special Home Guard are on-site, though damaged roads have hindered access

Mandi's Thalatukhod region also faced a catastrophic cloudburst at midnight, resulting in the collapse of homes and disruption of road connectivity. Nine people are missing, and one body has been found.

The Mandi district administration has alerted the Air Force and sought assistance from the NDRF. Despite the challenging conditions caused by damaged infrastructure, SDRF teams are working relentlessly. Deputy Commissioner Apurva Devgan is traveling on foot to the affected areas to supervise relief operations.

In Kullu, heavy rains have severely impacted the Malana Nallah region. The Malana One and Malana Two power projects have been significantly damaged, and the water level in the Parvati River has risen to dangerous levels.

Residents along the riverbanks have been advised to evacuate to safer locations. In the Nirmand area, 8 to 10 houses, including Patwar Khana, hotels, and shops, were swept away.

Seven to ten individuals, including seven members of a single family, are reported missing.

The local tehsildar and rescue teams are conducting search operations, but many bridges have been destroyed, and roads remain closed, complicating rescue efforts.

All educational institutions in the affected areas have been closed as authorities focus on rescue and relief operations.
