The Indian Men's Hockey Team suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat against Germany in their third match of the London leg of the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24. The match, played at Lee Valley Hockey Stadium on Saturday night, saw India fight back from a two-goal deficit but ultimately come up short.
Germany started strong, scoring two
early goals through Gonzalo Peillat (2nd minute) from a penalty corner and
Christopher Ruhr (10th minute). India responded well in the second quarter,
with Captain Harmanpreet Singh pulling a goal back through a penalty corner
conversion in the 19th minute. Despite sustained pressure, India couldn't find
the equalizer before halftime.
The third quarter saw Germany extend
their lead once again with Peillat converting another penalty corner (33rd
minute). India didn't give up, though, and Sukhjeet Singh narrowed the gap in
the 48th minute. However, the Indian team couldn't find the crucial equalizer
in the remaining minutes, as Germany held on for a 3-2 victory.
India will look to bounce back in
their next match against Great Britain, scheduled for June 9th at 19:00 IST.
