Former U.S. President Donald Trump recounted his experience of being shot during a rally in Pennsylvania today. He stated, "I was struck by a bullet that grazed the upper part of my right ear."

"I knew something was wrong immediately; I heard a whizzing sound, followed by shots, and then felt the bullet tearing through my skin," Trump, who sustained only minor injuries, shared on his Truth Social platform.

Trump Communications Director Steven Cheung confirmed in a statement that the former President is "fine and is being evaluated at a local medical facility."

The incident occurred approximately seven minutes into the rally in Butler, located in western Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Thousands of Trump supporters were present when the shooting, which was broadcast live on various news channels, took place. As the shots rang out, the 78-year-old was seen ducking while Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him. An audio feed from the stage captured him making a few comments.

Secret Service agents rushed to the podium, encircled the Republican candidate, and escorted him swiftly off the stage. As Trump was being led away, he defiantly raised a fist to the crowd.

Trump remarked, "Let me get my shoes," as he was taken to a secure location.

This startling event happened just two days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where Trump is set to be formally nominated as the party's candidate.

"I want to express my gratitude to the United States Secret Service and all law enforcement for their swift action during the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I extend my condolences to the family of the person who was killed at the rally and to the family of another individual who was seriously injured," Trump said in his post.

"It is unbelievable that such an act can occur in our country. At this time, nothing is known about the shooter, who is now deceased. I was struck by a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew instantly something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, followed by shots, and then felt the bullet tearing through my skin. There was significant bleeding, which made me realize what had happened. GOD BLESS AMERICA," he added.
