Hubballi: In a proactive move to curb the trafficking of drugs, the Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar convened a crucial meeting with representatives from various courier, delivery, and transport services on Friday at his office.

The meeting was focused on implementing stricter guidelines to prevent the misuse of delivery services for illegal activities, particularly drug trafficking.

Companies were instructed to be alert to suspicious patterns in deliveries, such as frequent parcels to the same recipient or from the same sender, especially those originating from other states.

Service providers were advised to immediately contact the nearest police station or dial 112 if they encounter any suspicious packages.

He instructed to install CCTV cameras, with emphasis on capturing clear footage of individual movements. The meeting also addressed the rising concern of online frauds, with the police urging companies to educate their staff and customers about potential risks.

In cases of suspected fraud, companies and individuals were instructed to promptly report incidents by calling 1930.

The meeting saw participation from a wide range of companies, including major players in the logistics and food delivery sectors. Notable attendees included representatives from DTDC, Ecom, BlueDart, Indigo cargo, VRL, SRS, Santosh, Ganesh, Suguna, Bendre Lorry Association, Goods Transport, Swiggy, Zomato, FlipKart, Amazon, among others.
