Hubballi: Local authorities have taken an action following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media showing a group of five to six boys assaulting a schoolboy in the Ashok Nagar area of Hubballi.



The incident, which has caused widespread concern among educational institutions and parents, prompted immediate action from the Ashok Nagar Police. Under the guidance of senior officers, a team led by the Police Inspector initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

Preliminary findings reveal that the altercation stemmed from an argument over a conversation with a girl. The assailants, identified as students from various schools and colleges in Hubballi, now face legal consequences.

Five minor boys involved in the assault are being dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act. Additionally, Francis Udumil, a 19-year-old paramedical student from Chalukya Nagar, Gadag Road, Hubballi, has been charged in connection with the incident.

In response to the event, local authorities have taken several preventive measures. A meeting was convened with school principals and parents to raise awareness and prevent future occurrences.

All educational institutions in Hubballi-Dharwad have been instructed to install CCTV cameras on their premises. School staff have been directed to immediately report any untoward incidents to the police or the emergency helpline (112).
